NEW MEMBER INFORMATION / COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: How do I meet the team & join?
A: Come say hi at the extracurricular bazaar in the Fall, and check out our instagram for updated information! If you've missed the bazaar, feel free to reach out to our captains at yaleramona@gmail.com. Most people join in the Fall, because our main goal for the Fall season is getting everyone comfortable with a disc and on the field, but Mona occasionally accepts new players at the start of the Spring semester as well - contact our captains at yaleramona@gmail.com!

Q: Do I have to have previous ultimate experience?
A: No! We love rookies! Many members of Ramona had never touched a frisbee before coming to Yale, but because ultimate is so easy to pick up, they’ve become star players in no time. One of our captains played ultimate for the first time with Mona their freshman year!

Q: When do you practice?
A: We practice from 4-6 PM on Wednesdays, from 3:30-6 PM on Fridays, and 10am-12pm on Saturdays. To get there, meet us in front of Payne Whitney Gym 20 minutes before practice starts to take the IM bus to the fields with us, or check out the map below if you plan to bike or drive there!

Q: Where do you practice?
A: The IM fields across from the Yale Bowl. You can catch the shuttle bus from Payne Whitney around 3:45 PM (3:15 on Fridays). The buses leave from the gym every 15 minutes. (Scroll down to see the location below!)

Q: How many tournaments are there? Where are they?
A: We go to about 4 tournaments each semester. Most tournaments are about two hours away in the Northeast, but we host an annual tournament at Yale in the Fall, and have travelled as far as Virginia for tournaments.

Q: Do I have to be a Yale undergrad to play?
A: We welcome both undergraduates and grad students at Yale on Mona! For the Spring season, graduate students must still have USAU eligibility to compete with Mona.

Q: How did you get the name Ramona?
A: When our frisbee team was started, the captains asked every girl to write down a women they most admired. Although many illustrious women were mentioned, they chose Ramona Quimby, who was a rambunctious 8 year old girl who was never afraid to get dirty and have fun.

Until it gets too cold and dark to practice outside, we normally practice right around Field C (which is the field right next to where the Yale Rugby Club practices).
You can catch the shuttle bus from Payne Whitney around 20 minutes before practice starts each day.

In the winter, we practice at the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney.
